Sunny July

We all have to say goodbye somehow...

Sorrow is a plague that we can’t shake.

It’s alive and real and painful to take.

It happened in a sunny July evening…

That an Angel among men was dying.

He wasn’t perfect wasn’t graceful,

but his heart was loving and faithful.

I love this man, he was my brother

and since that day I’ve met no other.

He left behind a wife and son

But God was always his number one

And while we’ll miss him on this earth

My faithful friend no longer hurts.

Too long he agonized in silence
Too long he endured his bodily torture.
Too long we all sat and watched him lose-
Too long we’ll miss you, see you soon.

I’ve never felt this sorrow before.

It’s ached inside me since, scorned

taunted, knowing it’s not my pain.

Imagining how his life wasn’t in vain.

He loved, he lived, and he blessed us all.

And his 2 year old will grow big and strong.

He won’t remember his daddy who died

But he’ll be reminded of his daddy’s life.

Can’t let this pain that’s cutting me

change my lingering reality.

Someday, someday, someday soon…

Blaine, we’ll be in heaven with you.

-On that sunny July evening...
