Forgiving the Monster
I went to spend some time with you tonight.
I closed my eye’s, head bowed- gave up my fight.
Heavy breathing, surrendering everything within me…
My soul stripped bare!
God! You’ve been waiting for me to start hating
This vile monster that’s inside of me…
Chances have come and gone- now I’m totally overwhelmed.
God, would you still take me?
You’ve showed me so many paths…
through this valley known as my life.
But I threw away my rod and staff-
I shoved them back in your face!
I don’t even deserve a glance-
So wretched, so long I rejected you,
My perfect romance
You’re the absence of fear,
Totality of hope,
Purest heroics,
Loyal to no fault,
Fierce to transgressions
Loving to undeserving,
Captivating spirit
Forgiving…
